This month’s Melting Pot session will take place at St John the Baptist – part of the very fabric of Bristol, it was built into the city walls in the 14th-century as a place for travellers to offer prayers before a journey.
It’s a fascinating place and we will be given a guided tour and be able to explore its various spaces including: the crypt and the vaults within it, the upper church nave and chancel, the vestry, the organ loft and the ringing chamber. Come prepared to explore, share, get inspired and create!
Melting pot sessions are regular fun and practical workshops for writers and artists from across the art forms to meet, share artistic practice and approaches for collaborative working, with a particular focus on getting inspired by sites
Each session takes place in a different site, we provide lunch, and discoveries and learning are documented and shared more widely via the project’s website.
Whether you are a seasoned collaborating writer or artist, or are interested in branching out from your usual practice for the first time, all you need to come along to these sessions is the desire to extend your artistic horizons.
If you are already signed up to our mailing pot list then please contact project producer Alexis Hobson – alexis@partexchangeco.org.uk – to register your interest by 10am Tuesday 16th June. If you are new to us, please include some info about you, your work and why this opportunity appeals to you and we will be in touch …!
