Narrator: Welcome to the City of Threads Gorilla on a Mini Moto sister episode, where, through the magic of immersive sound, we’ll be taking you deeper into the heart of some of the places and moments in the journeys taken by Nikki and Jeff in their episode.
All of these recordings use binaural sound, which really needs to be listened to through headphones to get the full experience, so if you have some to hand, now is the time to go and get them and put them on…
We’re starting with Nikki and Rosa on Bristol Bridge where Nikki showed Rosa how to see what she sees.
Also in this episode, the tactile landscape of the city from Arnolfini to Pero’s bridge is brought to life through the sounds of Nikki’s cane, we’ll follow Jeff on his drum kit on the way home journey and end in an immersive experience of the forest that he visits.
At the end of the episode there’s a song written and sung by Nikki with music by Chris Turner from the You either get hit by a bike or you don’t episode.
So let’s get started with Bristol Bridge…
Lyrics from City of Threads written by Nikki Durston ©
[Guitar Intro]
[Verse 1]
I would like to show to you a different point of view
How I trace the threads to get to where I’m going to
Cos I see fine inside my mind
And I’ve got vision even though I’m blind
If I’m on course I feel the pulse,
And everything’ll be alright
[Chorus]
Because the city’s real pretty even in the dark
The pavements sing and the way is marked
And if I follow the noise of the girls and boys
It’ll lead me to the bar… Alright
[Verse 2]
I would like to take you to the places I have been
And show you all the wondrous things that I’ve never seen
Cos who needs sight when your day is night
And the city shines with sounds of light
Textured sheens and scented scenes
And everything’ll be alright
[Chorus]
[Outro]
